The CZSO published another topic based on Census 2021 results – data on a population structure by mother tongue.
Almost 9 million of the Czech Republic population identified Czech as their only mother tongue, another 217.5 thousand stated Czech as their mother tongue in combination with other language. The next most frequently mentioned languages were Slovak and Ukrainian.
As with ethnicity, it was possible to state one or two mother tongues. Almost 260 thousand people filled in two mother tongues into the Census questionnaire. The data is available for all territory units, including municipalities and city or administrative districts.
Published Census data on mother tongue including tables and charts by regions are available at scitani.gov.cz, for more detailed data go to Public database.
