Frequency

More than 2.6 million people commute to work at least five times a week, representing 76.3% of all commuters with an identified commuting frequency. The second most frequent commuting frequency is the category of one to four times a week, which includes almost 600,000 persons. The frequency of commuting to school is also dominated by persons commuting at least five times a week, with more than 800,000 persons, representing 86.9% of all students with an identified commuting frequency.

In all regions, most people commute to work at least five times a week. The share of employed persons commuting at least five times a week in the total number of persons commuting to work (with the identified commuting frequency) ranges from 66.2% in Prague to 81.1% in Zlínský region. In Prague, the highest proportion of persons with the identified frequency of commuting was recorded as commuting between one and four times a week (27.0%). In Zlínský region, on the other hand, this share was only 13.0%.

In terms of the frequency of commuting to school, students who go to school at least five times a week are significantly more prevalent in all regions. The share of students commuting to school at least five times a week in the total number of students with an identified commuting frequency to school is highest in Středočeský region (89.8%) and lowest in Jihočeský region (84.1%). The Jihočeský region has the highest share of students commuting to school once to four times a week in the total number of pupils and students with a recorded frequency of commuting – 9.4%.
